One of the more knowledgeable gentleman in the book trade with a wonderful eclectic selection of modern and antiquarian books. The most enchanting shop I've ever visited. I've been making yearly pilgrimages for years to visit Tim Strong and leave with a trunk full of wonderful books at fantastically low prices. I love Birchbark Books :o) They never fail to excite and please me.
If only there were more places like this. The number of afternoons I've spent exploring the thousands of books on sale here is astounding. If you're in the North Country, you must go here: I've never found a bookstore that compares.
It's a great bookstore, with lots (50,000?) of books. The decor is very rustic, and it's fun to wander around this sprawling library-for-sale. However, city folk should use the bathroom before they go; there's an outhouse out back for such things.
Website states open Thu-sun 1-6 and that isn't the case . Drove to the bookstore to sell and buy some books and the sign out front says Sat-Sun 1-6. Drove a long way for nothing. NOT IMPRESSED with lack of website maintainence.
Wonderful old bookshop nestled in the trees. Like something out of your imagination, or at least the imagination of a young girl who came of age in the West. Many books over 100 years old.
