I had my car inspected few weeks ago, and then the guy behind the desk advised me to change the exhaust. New to the car, I had no ideas what is exhaust part and its function. So I listened to him and had it changed. It costed like $250 including labor. After changing it, I was satisfied and could felt that the car was not so loud anymore. But the problem came, and my check engine light was on next day. I went back and asked, and they said oxygen sensor was not working and I needed to change it. I asked why, because it was totally fine before. Then they said a bunch of crap to me which I do not understand. Basically, they wanted to say it was not their responsibility and it was car itself. They advised me to change oxygen sensor for like another $180. I was suspicious and turned them down, then I went to the other place to fix my car, and I was told what happened. The truth was that people from Monro burned a hole in my oxygen sensor when they changed my exhaust. Then they tried to cover their mistake and blamed problems on my car. They are horrible and I will never come back again.
obvious;y mr. schroder you are under false pretenses your rotors were obviously working at only a 3rd of the potential you can see this in your photos of misdemeanor it is not but something the company in general did but you went to multiple facilities to dictate yourself you can see this in your posts
We picked up the car and immediately noticed issues that this car had never had previously. Not only was the check engine on, but the cruise control light was flashing. Additionally, the fuel efficiency had tanked, and the car was not accelerating properly. The car was jolting when you finally managed to get it to move, and the accelerator had no sensitivity until you were close to the floorboards. After a look under the hood, it turns out whoever worked on the vehicle unplugged the Mass Airflow Sensor. On the paperwork we received the services we requested weren’t listed, so we are currently assuming that they replaced the air filter and never actually plugged it back in; causing the issues with acceleration, the check engine light, and for the cruise control to disable itself.
The car was initially dropped of with a request to change the oil, replenish fluids, and a brake check. The first red flag that was raised was the lack of communication. We dropped the car off in the morning and heard nothing until late that afternoon, after multiple calls to a busy signal we finally received a call saying that they were trying to replace the pads, but the calipers weren’t opening. That’s fine. We’ve been having issues with the brakes, and that was no surprise to us. The lack of communication was frustrating, but we moved on. They told us they would need to keep it another day to get the work done and we agreed.
My boyfriend and I recently brought his car to the Potsdam location of Monro Muffler Brake & Service, and we are remarkably disappointed and aggravated with our experience. The lack or professionalism and the following issues that have mysteriously appeared less than 24 after getting the car back have left us with a hole in our pocket and bad taste in our mouths.
Go anywhere other than here. Inflated prices, bad attitude, repairs that are not needed. Basically they will rip you off. Midis will cost 25% less and does better work. I was told 2 hrs max, six hours later work was done. Almost 400 dollars for rotors and pads on one axle. Pics say it all. Midis mechanic told me they did not need replacement. Went in with no oil leak, had one after oil change. Had to argue for them to fix it. They did, said no charge but 69.99 added to bill under misc. service. Car now vibrates at stops, never before.
The brake lines were to be replaced the next business day after the weekend, and two days later the car was done. Once again, we were not contacted once the car was ready and it took multiple calls to get through to even be told the car was ready.
The next day we do not receive a single phone call the entire day, and finally, around 5 pm we decide to go directly to the shop to get an update because apparently the trying the phone was not going to yield any answers. We get to the shop, and the phone was off the hook. As a customer that is being told that we’re going to have to drop a few hundred dollars, one would expect that the shop would be able to be reached. My boyfriend and I were finally able to speak to someone, and we were told that they were able to get one of the calipers open and didn’t have to replace the other, but that all of the brakes needed to be replaced. Once again, fine. If things need to be replaced, they need to be replaced, but not communicating with the customer who is paying for it is not acceptable.
Four days, 300+ dollars, unprofessional staff, and unfinished work. Not worth it. Find a local shop and take your hard earned money elsewhere.
They are ok for oil change
We will never step foot in Monro again.
Look elsewhere, do not make our mistake.
The man we spoke to was rude and short and was condescending when I asked any questions about the process and what happened with the car. When he informed us that the brake lines failed once they replaced the calipers I asked him when that happened, and with a smug and sarcastic disposition he replied: “Oh, about an hour ago I guess.” Not only did they not communicate this to us, but we were also trying to contact them while this was happening and when we ended up getting in contact they were rude. He continued being condescending and said that our original quote (that we never actually received on paper despite requesting) of approximately 600 dollars wouldn’t be the actual price because they only had to replace one caliper, and they were so kindly not going to charge us for the brake lines.
